F.A.Q.

THE SESSION

How should I stand? Will you pose us? Where do you want me? We want you to be as natural as you can be. We’ll give you some direction during the shoot, we always have ideas to create interactive situations so that we can capture your essence effortlessly.

PORTRAIT PREP

How do I prepare for a session? Please be dressed and ready to start shooting upon arrival. Eat a healthy meal about an hour before your shoot – but not too big! You don’t want to be in a full-blown food coma during your shoot. Bring your lipstick and powder in case you need to retouch between shots. If you are leaving the hotel for the portrait photography, bring some water for the ride. It can get warm all year round in the Riviera Maya.

WHAT SHOULD I THINK ABOUT WHEN PLANNING MY CEREMONY?

Other than working on your vows, think about how you want your photos to look. Where should the marriage officiant stand? Do you want to face your friends and family or do they stare at your backs? If you will have elaborate electricity needs, think about the cables and poles. Also, if you have a musician, where do you want them to be for photos?

HOW MUCH GETTING READY DO I ACTUALLY DO IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA?

How does the getting ready portion of the wedding day work? Put on your underwear and invite us in!! No, really! We want to see you actually getting ready. We typically request at least 1.5 hour for getting ready. When should I schedule my hair and makeup? Hair and makeup for EVERYONE should be complete by the time the photographers ARRIVE. Please don’t schedule HMU to finish any later than at least 2 hours before your ceremony. When do the guys get dressed? Please, WAIT for the photographer to arrive at the groom’s room. The wedding photographer will give them instructions, keep them on schedule, and guide them along the way!

WHY IS GETTING READY IMPORTANT?

We capture the details. We break the ice with your family and bridal party. We capture the intimate moments that you will want as the beginning of your story. You will be able to see what happened in your partner’s room, even though you weren’t there.

HOW SHOULD I SCHEDULE MY SPECIAL DAY?

How do I plan my schedule? Plan your day around the sunset. We recommend that your ceremony starts 2 hours prior to sunset. This gives us perfect time and gorgeous warm light for sunset portraits as well as nice temperature for your cocktail hour. Do you want to know when the sun sets on your day? Find out here: Sunset Times Please take the time to talk with Heather before your wedding day, so that she can help you understand your wedding day schedule and you can make changes if necessary before you are too close to wedding day!
